How to save a whole webpage as a PDF in Chrome
October 27, 2026 · 1 min read
A PDF is the right format when a page has to survive outside the browser: an email attachment, an archive, a report or a printout. There are two common ways to get one in Chrome.
Option 1: the print dialog
- Press
Ctrl+P(Cmd+Pon Mac). - Set Destination to Save as PDF.
- Open More settings and turn on Background graphics if colors are missing.
- Click Save.
This is built in and free. The trade-off is that Chrome applies the page’s print styles, so the result can look different from the page on screen, and long pages are split at page breaks.
Option 2: capture the page as it looks on screen
If you want the PDF to match what you see, capture the page instead of printing it. A full page screenshot extension scrolls through the document, collects every section and builds the file from the result.
Tips for a cleaner PDF
- Scroll once to the bottom first so lazy-loaded images are loaded.
- Close cookie banners and pop-ups before capturing.
- Pick PNG or JPG instead when you need an image to paste into a chat or a slide.
Both methods are free. Use the print dialog for text-heavy pages you will print; use a capture when appearance matters.
